South Swindon MP Robert Buckland visited West Swindon based 633 Squadron Air Cadets in early April to present certificates of achievement and meet cadets.
He said: “I’ve heard a great deal about the squadron and seen air cadets on duty and assisting at events around the town like Remembrance Day and Armed Forces Day, but I wanted to come along and see what they do.
“I’m so impressed by how much cadets can get involved with. The Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme and BTEC courses are popular. There’s a wide range of hobbies and sports, in addition to the more mainstream RAF related activities like visiting stations, marching and learning to shoot.

“The cadets are an important youth movement largely run by volunteers, some of whom have served in the forces. The ATC really does provide important life skill training for its members.”
The squadron meets on Monday and Friday evenings from 7pm to 9.30pm at Lydiard Park Academy, Grange Park Way.
