South Swindon MP Robert Buckland presented the keys of a new Motability car to his constituent Jennifer Ogbourne at Allen Ford, Drakes Way on 7 February.
Jennifer, 59, has constant severe back pain, having never recovered from three slipped discs in the 1990s. This affects her everyday life considerably. Jennifer has been leasing a car with Motability for 20 years and the car she collected today is a Ford Grand C-MAX.
She said: “When my husband left his job to become my full time carer, we couldn’t afford to run our own car, so I applied for a vehicle with Motability. The scheme has been a great support to us over the years, and has helped me retain my independence, enabling me to get out and visit our family when I want.”
Robert Buckland said: “It’s a pleasure to see how Motability supports people in Swindon like Jennifer and her family. The Scheme enables thousands of people to become mobile and I am delighted to see this first-hand today.”
Declan O’Mahony, Director of Motability, commented: “We are delighted that Robert Buckland could join us for this special occasion today. Motability has improved the lives of millions of people like Jennifer since 1977, and we look forward to supporting many more with their independence in the future.”
