WOOTTON Bassett got their season off to a stunning start as they demolished Bicester 60-0 yesterday.
On a weekend where the club hosted their seventh annual beer festival, Liam Rowe, Phil Williamson, Tim Gallimore, Gavin Ougan, Deri Thomas, Dave Hogg and Hamish Forbes-Keith all crashed over for tries in what was a comfortable win for Bassett.
Head coach Alan Low was pleased with the intensity his team showed but insisted there was still improvement to be made as they bid to consolidate their place in Southern Counties North.
“It was good to get ourselves out the blocks like that and for the guys to show the intensity and tempo we were looking for, we had that in pre-season and we’ve carried it into the league,” he told Link Sport.
“The guys put in a noteworthy performance although there were a few errors, we were rusty, so that’s something we need to address going forwarded.
“We created some good opportunities and also defended well, and everything just seemed to click which was great.”
