RWE npower renewables recently held an official opening of its new head office, Auckland House, in Lydiard Fields, Swindon.
A plaque commemorating the new building was unveiled by Professor Dr. Varenholt from RWE Innogy, which is the parent company of RWE npower renewables.
In order to turn thoughts away from the cold and snowy weather the theme of the opening event was an ‘English Summer fete’. This involved many traditional activities including face painting, a ‘test your strength’ machine, a candy floss stall and lots and lots of tea and cakes! Staff were also entertained by Chippenham Morris Men.
As one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies, the offices have been built and designed with sustainability in mind. The building incorporates many sustainable features including low energy glass, low energy temperature controls, efficient lighting and solar water heating.
Paul Cowling, Managing Director at RWE npower renewables is rightly proud of the new building which he says ‘marks a significant step in the history of RWE npower renewables in Swindon and has our values and principles at its core.’
The opening event raised over £500 for the ‘Help for Haiti’ fund and this amount will be matched by the RWE Foundation.
