Ryder- Cheshire Volunteers (RCV) works with adults with a physical disability. They choose almost any activity that interests them and RCV finds a suitable like-minded volunteer to share the fun. This might be anything- needlework, computing, fishing or parachuting! We believe people with disability should have the same choices that others take for granted.
The service provides a focus for confidence building and skills development through the leisure activity and social contact. It aims to enhance the quality of life, improve physical and mental health, reduce social isolation and aid rehabilitation and integration into mainstream society.
RCV have been running successful projects for 24 years. We have identified a need for our service in Swindon and Wiltshire and are now seeking interested local people to form an autonomous Branch of the charity.
We particularly want people who would like to be trustees to form a management committee. We are looking for enthusiastic people from all walks of life, with a range of life skills, good judgement and an empathy with our purpose. Appropriate training and support supplied.
These are active roles, requiring attendance at 6 – 8 local meetings a year, and involving some day to day management tasks to move the project forward between meetings.
If you would like to help in either an advisory or trustee capacity, please contact Imelda Richardson on 01926 485447 or email email@example.com Further details are available on our website www.rcv.org.uk
