There is a lot to crow about at Roves Farm Visitor Centre this May Half Term with the special theme ‘Scarecrows’ running from Saturday 28 May until Sunday 5 June.
The Free Tractor Rides take visitors around 30 acres of maize and wild bird cover whilst on a special hunt for scarecrows! However, Roves Farm has one very special scarecrow which needs your help to scare away the birds!
Rupert Burr, owner of the farm said ‘Scarecrows are traditionally used in fields by farmers to discourage birds such as crows or sparrows from disturbing and feeding on recently cast seeds and growing crops. The maize growing in our fields will be harvested in October and used for animal feed and wild bird cover.’
Visitors are also invited to make miniature scarecrows to take home during the Farm’s Crafty Sessions, and the usual paper crafts to snip, stick and decorate will also be available.
A full programme of events include: Meet and Feed a wide range of farm animals, Animal Racing, Free Tractor and Trailer Rides and plenty of Pedal Tractors, Children’s Craft, 2 Acre Willow Maze with clue sheets, Giant Bale Stack with tunnels, Family Walk with a quiz past Animal Paddocks, along with Indoor and Outdoor Adventure Play Areas.
Roves Farm Visitor Centre is open daily, 10:30am-5:00pm.
