Scouts right across Swindon are gearing themselves up for the annual Swindon Scout Post and the 7th Swindon (Abbey Meads) Scout Group, are hoping for a bumper year. Last year they delivered a record number to the Priory Vale area.
Since 1981, Scouts across the UK have been licensed to deliver Christmas cards in addition to Royal Mail. All the profits go directly back to the Groups to assist with funding for activities, equipment or specific projects but it also helps raise the profile of Scouts within the local community.
Stamps cost 18p each for any size of Christmas card, and collection, sorting and delivery is carried out by leaders, parents and group members. Cards are delivered by Groups right across the Swindon Borough and surrounding towns and villages.
7th Swindon will be selling stamps at Asda Wal-Mart on the Orbital Park at the following times:
Friday 26 November, 6pm – 9pm
Saturday & Sunday 27/28 November, 10am – 4pm
Friday 3 December, 6pm – 9pm
Saturday & Sunday 4/5 December, 10am – 4pm
Friday 10 December, 6pm – 9pm
Saturday & Sunday 11/12 December, 10am – 4pm
Last September, due to increasing numbers, the Group, which caters for girls and boys from 6 – 14 years in three sections, had to move to a bigger meeting venue but ideally they would like their own building which they could share with other community groups
