Flux is organising a free festival involving a sea monster, mermaids and pirates.
Three free arts workshops to make fish, jellyfish and a huge creature have taken place in preparation and all well be revealed on Saturday 20 September, 10am to 4pm, at the North Swindon District Centre, with a parade between 2.30pm and 4pm.
While the monster will be the talking point, the event will also include mermaids in a cave, a finding Nemo game, a visit by a band of pirates including Captain Jack Sparrow and all manner of seaside activities: stalls, hook a duck and face painting.
Prizes will be on offer to anybody who goes along wearing sea-based fancy dress. Organiser Becca Lloyd said, “this is going to be another splashy event by Flux, following the lovely lantern festival in March.
“We hope that families and communities will come together again and start building a tradition of arts events, combining hands-on making with exciting performance. Everyone is welcome.”
