A unique theatrical event to mark the opening celebrations of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing events takes place in Weymouth on Thursday 26 July – and performers from Swindon will be part of this spectacular performance in light, sound and vision.
Seven counties from the South-West region will help to tell the tale of the Battle of the Winds in their areas before heading down to Weymouth and Portland for an unforgettable three-day outdoor performance. One will be Swindon & Wiltshire’s very own Search for Swindon’s Soul, the biggest outdoor show ever staged in the town displaying the very best of Swindon past, present and future.
Swindon Dance’s hip hop artist Banxy will lead dancers through this thrilling urban circus and he’s looking for talent to perform the ‘Search for Swindon’s Soul’ when it will be premiered at the free Big Arts Day at Lydiard Park on Saturday 14 July in Lydiard Park.
Banxy along with Swindon Dance are holding auditions on Saturday 19 May to look for the talented young people with urban dance skills aged 14 to 25 years to perform in this unique event. Banxy will then work with the chosen dancers over a number of weeks during May, June and July to create the ‘Search for Swindon’s Soul’.
