Sirva Relocation is the leading worldwide provider of company relocation services and moving solutions, providing more than 300,000 relocations per year to companies, government employees, and individual consumers.
The company has supported lots of different charities and causes over recent years but since 2011 staff at its Swindon office decided to put its major effort to one local charity.
HR manager Susannah Taylor said: "All of the team within our Swindon office voted for different charities and chose Swindon Cancer and Leukaemia Movement – CALM – as it specifically related to children and was not a national charity.
"During the year, we raised funds by wearing red and white for St Georges Day, baked cakes and held a ‘school lunch; where individual staff donated homemade meals and desserts which all of the staff bought. We also had a big raffle at our Summer BBQ social event in Lydiard Park which was a fantastic day when the sun actually shone.
"Our Autumn raffle had prizes donated from employees and partner companies alike with the star prize of a high tech fan donated by Dyson, the design and manufacturing company in Malmesbury.
"Also in the Autumn Karen Goddard and Dee Childs McKay ran the Swindon Half Marathon and SIRVA matched the funds raised.
CALM chairman Richard Crowley said: "We’re so grateful for the support of staff at Sirva and the company. Karen and Dee’s willingness to do the half marathon was tremendous. It makes such a big difference to the support we can offer families in the Swindon area."
Sirva has just moved into new offices at Kembrey Park, Swindon and staff are planning more ways to raise money for charity in 2013.
