Keeping in theme with the brand’s ‘Should’ve gone to Specsavers’ campaign, eagle-eyed optical staff at Specsavers Swindon helped clinch a top-10 placing in Campaign Magazines Regional Press Ads of the Year, 2013.
Specsavers submitted an advert in April 2013 after the town became the butt of jokes on an international scale after Swindon Borough Council employed contractors to paint a 4-foot wide alleyway with two sets of double-yellow lines.
Thanks to the council’s short-sighted blooper, Specsavers’ Swindon yellow lines advert was selected by the magazine as one of its top 10 regional press ads of the year.
The December 2013 edition of Campaign – the leading weekly magazine for the advertising and communications industry – includes the advert stating: ‘It was a manna from heaven for the quick-off-the-mark Specsavers creative team’.
