The De Vere Hotel is now recruiting 20 full and part time staff for its expanding Health and Fitness Club, brand new restaurant and Starbucks outlet, as part of its £4m refurbishment programme.
The hotel, at Shaw Ridge Leisure Centre in West Swindon, opened in 1992 and now owners AHG have decided it should become part of their Village hotels brand.
Although work began in September and is due to finish in February, general manager Andrew Spink said disruption is being kept to a minimum – and all Christmas parties will be unaffected by the work. When completed the hotel will feature a Starbucks, a fully refurbished health club with all new equipment, the Victory Pub and Kitchen and an Italian family restaurant.
Mr Spink said, “we are operating as normal throughout the project by carefully phasing the work. The De Vere under the Village concept is being completely transformed into a destination for a much wider range of people; you are going to be wowed by the changes.
“Starbucks, located next to a completely new reception area, will be a tremendous draw for people who want to drop in for coffee and pastries, whilst The Victory will be a pub serving excellent food.
“We’re all really excited about the Italian restaurant which will operate under the Buca di Beppo franchise. It’s a tremendously successful brand in the USA and ours will be one of the first in Britain.”
He added that the all new, larger fitness club will double its membership to 2,000 and all 148 bedrooms will get the Village touch – new decoration, carpets and comfort furnishings including new signature Village beds and 32 inch flat screen televisions.
Andrew said, “this is a great investment in Swindon, bringing fantastic brands, complimenting each other in a lively, energetic and vibrant atmosphere – there will be a real buzz about the place.”
There are 22 Village Hotels throughout the UK and Village Swindon will be the first of the four AHG Hotels converting to the Village brand.
