Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust are planning and preparing for their busiest summer on record.
Over 1,000 children will be heading to the County Ground over the 6 weeks of school holidays, to attend Development Weeks which gives the opportunity to boys and girls of all abilities from the ages of 5 to 15 years old.
The football coaching weeks are run over three to four days, with the main course in operation on the first three days and the optional day on the Fridays.
The action packed weeks are run under four strands, Mainstream, Girls only, Goalkeepers only and Multi Sports Inclusion, with the weeks enabling children to make new friends, develop their skills and techniques whilst engaging within a fun and safe environment. There are opportunities to win prizes and everyone goes away with a goody bag presented on the third day.
This summer will give the participants a great chance to meet the Swindon Town First Team players, look around the County Ground and also get the chance to play inside the unique Swindon Town inflatable arena.
Melissa Keen, parent of a Development Week participant said, “My son was 16 during Easter and therefore attended his last course during the Easter holidays. He has attended most courses since he was 8 and has always had a fantastic time, learnt a lot and most importantly met new friends. I am sure all at STFiTC have had an influence on my son’s decision to go into Sports Coaching when he leaves school in July”
This summer will see the Trust deliver 5 mainstream weeks along with 3 Goalkeeping and Girls only weeks in Swindon, with them all being staged at the County Ground, and the coaching programme taking place at the magnificent local St Joseph’s Catholic College.
Completing the Summer Development Weeks programme will also see the Trust deliver in Chippenham, Lambourn, Tetbury, Marlborough, Calne, Kingston Bagpuize, Ashton Keynes and Stroud .
With indoor provision for wet weather and with the weeks enabling staff and scouts to recognise and identify local talent who may have the required talent to progress into the Centre of Excellence at STFC there has never been a better time to get involved in the STFiTC programme.
