MEND is a free, fun 10 week lifestyle programme for 5 to 16 year olds who are above a healthy weight, as well as their parents or carers.
Participants learn about the importance of nutrition and exercise. There are groups for different ages:
• MEND 5-7 starts on Wednesday 25 September, 3.45pm to 5.30pm, and will meet once a week at Oasis Leisure Centre;
• MEND 7-13 will meet twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm, from Tuesday 17 September at Link Centre;
• MEND Teens will take place twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4pm and 6pm at Stratton Community Leisure Centre.
Committing to MEND is a brave thing to do for both parents and children. Recognising there are issues with weight that need to be addressed is one thing, doing something about it and contacting the MEND team requires a big step.

Rewards for doing MEND
All who complete the 10 week programme are invited to take part in a fun day of activity.
Pictured are some of the youngsters from the summer courses who enjoyed a day of activity at the PGL adventure centre at Liddington, having a go on the giant swing, archery, abseiling and climbing the 30 metre tower.
Dad Mark Sharp, rear left, got involved when his son Ben attended MEND 7 – 13 in 2008. Mark has now become a MEND exercise instructor and Ben, centre back, plans to also train as an instructor.
