Children and young people along with their friends and families all slept out for the night at St. Joseph’s Catholic College on 15 July to raise money for homeless people in Swindon.
42% of the people Threshold accommodated in their emergency hostel were under 25, many coming straight from care.
Threshold provides advice, accommodation and support to young people in Swindon settling them into less chaotic lifestyles, helping them plan for the future and working towards independent living and they rely on the generosity of people in Swindon to help them do that.
Phil Smith, Operations Director (pictured) at Threshold says “Sleepout offers us a chance to reach out to the younger audience in Swindon, breaking down a few of the misconceptions people have of ‘homelessness’ and homeless people” he also states, “There’s a lot of fear around some of the issues and of the people we see but in reality these are people who are just looking for some reassurance, someone to talk to and some advice”.
