Sandra McGlone has over 23 years of massage experience offering sports therapy, pregnancy and Swedish massage. Last year Sandra completed the International Association of Infant Massage training, and qualified as an Infant Massage Instructor.
Infant massage courses are open to all babies from birth to 1 year old. Courses run for 5 weeks and are open to mums, dads or the child’s primary caregivers.
“Our courses are baby led – remember babies will be babies, they will cry, wee and need a feed at some point in the class. We also only massage babies if they are happy for us to do so, teaching the parents to look and listen for the cues and respect their babies’ wishes even at this very young age.
So what are the benefits of infant massage? Massage helps with constipation, colic and trapped wind, helping to reduce stress levels, promoting relaxation and better sleep. The massage develops pre-language communication skills between parent and child, promoting positive bonding through quality one to one time.
“Normally anything linked with babies happens in the week – I wanted to be able to offer something for working parents, who don’t want to miss out on these opportunities, but can’t attend during the week. The responses we have had to the courses are fantastic, everyone comments on the relaxed, informative group.”
Courses are held at: St. Francis Primary School, Taw Hill – Monday 1pm and North Swindon Library – Saturday 10am
