South Swindon MP Robert Buckland has become patron of Swindon Children’s Cancer And Leukaemia Movement (CALM) which is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year.
The charity has been run entirely by parent volunteers since 1984 to provide support to parents of children going through treatment for cancer and leukaemia.
All funds raised go towards providing practical help, arranging short holidays around treatment and giving siblings attention to help them understand what’s going on in their family.
Robert said: “CALM is such an important organisation in Swindon and I’m really honoured to have become their patron. The work they do to support the whole family where a child is undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia is invaluable.”
CALM chair Richard Crowley said: “Robert has always been ready to help us at fundraising events and to provide advice. We’re all delighted that he agreed to be formally linked to CALM.”
