Wiltshire Police have teamed up with a DIY firm to offer residents a Christmas gift – up to 15 per cent off security products.
Police community support officers will be at B&Q, Trowbridge, offering advice on how best to secure your home, shed and garage and handing out discount vouchers redeemable in-store.
Neighbourhood Sergeant James Brain said: “Christmas will soon be here and we want to ensure you can keep your presents safe and secure, enabling you to have a happy festive period.
“Thieves are continuing to target sheds and garages which we want to prevent.
“Simple things like fitting good quality locks and shed alarms will deter thieves and we’ve worked in conjunction with the management of B&Q Trowbridge to make sure those products are more affordable.”
Officers will be at B&Q between 10am and 4pm on Wednesday December 19 and Sunday December 23 in partnership with B&Q staff offering advice and demonstrating security products using a display shed.
Our advice includes:
Always lock windows and doors and set the alarm at night as well as when you go out
Make sure gates and fences are sturdy with good locks
Fit a low-cost "shed alarm" – they are easy to fit and available from most DIY stores
Lock bikes and other valuables to a ground anchor inside the shed or garage with a ‘Sold Secure’ quality chain
