Mother and daughter team Cynthia and Maxime Bell have opened a specialist ballet shoe business, Pointe Perfection, after receiving free advice and guidance from Outset Swindon.
Explaining the opportunity Maxime said: “I’ve been a dancer since I was three and have always had to travel to other cities to buy pointe shoes, which added a lot to the cost of them. Based on this experience we spotted a gap in the Swindon market and decided to set up our own business.”
Outset Swindon is a free programme of support for start-up businesses, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Swindon Borough Council.
Maxime said: “We had tried to start a dance shop before but it didn’t work out because of our lack of business knowledge.
“Outset made it all completely clear and helped us create our business plan; it seemed really easy in the end.”
As well as the shoes themselves Pointe Perfection stocks pointe accessories, tights and male and female ballet shoes from baby size 6.
They also offer a complete ordering service from their comprehensive range of catalogues.
To celebrate their new business Cynthia and Maxime are giving goody bags to all customers who sign up for their special offers, and are offering a 50 per cent discount on satin ballet shoes for a limited time.
