Toothill Big Local Partnership Committee has made huge strides towards realising their £1million National Lottery grant by submitting a community vision document for endorsement by the Big Local Trust.
Commenting on the progress so far, committee chair Kareen Boyd said: “Toothill resident and vice-chair Peter Egan has done an outstanding job in producing the Profile, Vision and Plan document which is a crucial milestone in the process.
“It identifies the main priorities for Toothill based on community research carried out since 2011 and also highlights the possibility of awarding sports bursaries to talented individuals and groups.”
According to the document the priority focus areas include sports, play areas, parks and open spaces; the community and village centre, and Toothill Farmhouse and former milking barn often referred to as the ‘Cow Shed.’
Describing the next steps Kareen, pictured with Toothill residents, said: “Now that our plan is ready for endorsement we are on track to invite larger bids from the £1million pot by July.”
As community engagement steps up, the committee is appealing for administration assistance, particularly with regard to managing its website and social media presence. This is a funded position and anyone interested in applying should mail: email@example.com
Meanwhile, more small grants have been made available to Toothill organisations through the Big Local community chest programme. CCTV provision for the doctors’ surgery; a storage shed for Oliver Tomkins School; interim roof repairs for Toothill Scouts’ base at the farm; a new dishwasher for the community centre and support for the Toothill Women’s Group have all been made possible recently.
The summer round of community chest bids opens on 1 July, with training available for prospective bidders on 2 and 10 July.
