Whether it’s climbing aboard famous steam locomotives, testing your skills as a signalman or taking the controls of the Museum’s steam train simulator, STEAM has bucketfuls of fun planned for the weeks ahead.
Among the story-telling displays at STEAM, visitors have the chance to be close up, touch and even get onto the footplate of locomotives like the famous Swindon-built GWR No. 4003 Lode Star (pictured right).
Kids of all ages can also climb aboard No. 4073 Caerphilly Castle at the fortnightly Meet the Railway Workers events 9 and 23 August, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm. Plus there is a special GWR Achievement Certificate for changing the points inside STEAM’s authentic GWR Signal Box.
STEAM’s Summer Detective Trail runs every day throughout the summer holidays to add an extra learning and fun dimension for families.
And for a real Summer Bonus, STEAM is offering children aged 3 to 16 the chance to visit for just £1.00 when accompanied by a full-paying adult. To get the special price, visitors need to complete the Kids for a Quid voucher that can be found in the July and August issues of The Link Magazine or you can download it from the STEAM website at www.steam-museum.org.uk . Just complete the details and hand it in to the ticket desk. This offer runs between 26 July and 31 August 2014.
STEAM is open every day, 10.00 am – 5.00 pm. For more details, please visit the website at www.steam-museum.org.uk
