Local award winning independent freelance photographer Pete Dewhirst is staging an exhibition of images he has taken when following the ongoing struggle of the Great Western Hospital Carillion Workers
The first protest covered was on February 14 outside the Great Western Hospital and the journey of the protestors has seen gatherings outside the Nationwide and Zurich Headquarters in Swindon as well as marches through the town.
The protestors have continued to raise their profile by journeying to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, the VirginMedia Headquarters in Hook and the Carillion Headquarters in Wolverhampton. All of these locations are where there are Carillion workers.
Over the past few months Pete Dewhirst of pdimages ltd has been following the Carillion strikers around the country. Pete is a local award winning photojournalist and as such he has been recording their ongoing demonstrations by taking images on the picket lines, at protests and at strike meetings.
A collection of his images will be on display in the exhibition at the Post Modern Gallery in Swindon from Friday 6 July until Tuesday 10 July.
The images aim to show the human side of the workers struggle for respect from their management at Carillion.
Friday is by invitation only but the exhibition will be open to the public from 10.00 until 4.00 from Saturday 7 July until Tuesday 10 July. Images will be available for sale but for more information you can go to the website www.pdimages.co.uk
