‘Busking for Bears’ is a new worldwide campaign looking for bands/musicians/singers who would like to donate a video of themselves for Animals Asia’s new website, a site featuring videos from musicians performing a song.
The site will look like a subway station with the video playing on the billboard on the platform. We’re hoping the site can become a really cool library of performances of great acts for people to discover.
Animals Asia has a big UK and worldwide following and we think this will be a great platform to showcase the talents of Swindon musicians. Once your song is on the website we hope this will draw a whole new audience to Animals Asia via your friends, fans and family.
The video can be of you performing in any environment – at a gig, a rehearsal, a soundcheck, or just at home on the sofa. If you would like to record it in the street or actually busking in an underground station, that’s even better.
At the end of the video, viewers will be prompted with information about bear bile farming and encouraged to donate to Animals Asia.
Animals Asia is a charity devoted to rescuing moon bears from the barbaric bear bile farms in China and Vietnam and the Swindon branch raises awareness for the bears plight and raises money for bear sanctuaries.
In terms of timing, we’d love to get the video as soon as possible so we can get the site up and running with you as one of the first videos. Would you be up for doing a video for Animals Asia in support of our bear sanctuaries and our campaign to end bear bile farming?
The video doesn’t have to be high quality – just filmed on a normal camera or decent phone should be fine.
It should be in standard landscape orientation – not portrait. If its a live video from a gig, then it needs to look like it was filmed for us, not a bootleg video from a fan in the audience (e.g. a camera on tripod filming the stage)
The sound quality has to be reasonable so its pleasant enough for people to listen to and shoud be supplied in standard video formats are fine – MP4, AVI – whatever format the person’s camera or phone records in.
We’re asking that the videos be exclusive to Animals Asia – i.e. don’t put it up on YouTube or use it for other things.
That way, when you share the link on Facebook, your friends and fans will come to the Busking for Bears page to see the video, and they’ll find out about bear bile farming. Also, the song has to be original, otherwise we would stand to get into legal difficulties over copyright.
I think it would be wonderful to get a few Swindon bands as the first on this new website and it will also get your name and music out there for others to hear and see.
