Cherie Blair dropped into Goddard Park Primary School on 25 January, just a couple of weeks after husband Tony unexpectedly appeared in Toothill to relaunch the Government’s respect agenda.
Year six pupils Aston Plumb, Jayme-Lee McCarthy and Ayesha Miah gave her a tour of the school and talked to her about their lessons.
The school also provides facilities for adult learners who use the computer room to acquire ICT skills and to try other courses like literacy and forestry.
Headteacher Mike Welsh said he was very proud of his young guides. “They are all stars and have done the school proud. We were delighted Cherie Blair came to visit us. It’s great recognition after our recent outstanding Ofsted report.
“It is an excellent result for the children and staff and the whole community. For the children who met her and spoke with her, it is a day they’ll never forget.”
