The day has a circus theme and cyclists are asked to dress up their bikes and come as clowns, mime artists, show girls and circus animals – the glitzier and more colourful the better.
Prizes will be awarded for best individual, best individual under 16 years, and best group (club or group of friends in costume).
Bike dressing takes place from 10am and a gentle thirty minute ride on a controlled route around West Swindon starts at midday.
Event organiser Anna Cipullo, CTC Cycling Development Officer for Swindon, said, “thanks to Big Lottery funding, we’re really excited about our free cycling festival for Swindon. Come along and enjoy the carnival atmosphere.
“Last year Bristol hosted the UK’s first dedicated pedal-powered carnival with over 600 attendees, and we’re hoping Swindon can beat that.”
