Swindon boxer Jamie Cox was guest of honour at the Lydiard Park Academy sports presentation evening at the De Vere Village in early July.
Jamie, who left Greendown School, as it then was, in 2002, took part in a question and answer session about what he remembers about his school days, why he took up boxing and what he likes and dislikes about being a professional sportsman.
As an amateur he won gold as a welterweight at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games before turning professional where he has won all 17 of his bouts.
Earlier this year he was Amir Khan’s sparring partner on the way to winning two international welterweight titles.
Jamie is considering his next move and is planning to return to the ring in September, either in Britain or possibly in the USA.
When not training for a bout, Jamie is a partner in the fotsPOR fitness centre at Crowood House, Gipsy Lane.
