The prospect of a hospital stay can be hard to contemplate at any time of the year, but being away from home during the festive season can be really tough for children, writes Lucy Mead of Verelogic.
Before Christmas the youngsters in the Great Western Hospital received special festive gifts from Kevin Metcalfe from the Verelogic Group, assisted by Kelvin Young, Swindon’s young IBO Intercontinental Super Middleweight Boxing Champion.
Kelvin said: "It was a pleasure to visit the children and meet their families on the ward.
"It is obviously very sad for them to be in hospital and especially at Christmas but really nice to put a smile on their faces with the visit and the gifts."
Young’s Manager Keith Mayo added: "Kelvin has always wanted to do what he can in the community whenever he can and this kind of thing really sums up who he is.
"The joy he brought to the youngsters at the hospital was clear to see from the smiles he raised on their faces."
