Jayne Moverley, Manager of Splash-Wiltshire, recently visited the Community Savings Team at Nationwide Head Office in Swindon to collect a cheque for £1660 to support the charity’s work.
Splash had been nominated as charity of the year by the Nationwide team and they duly set about raising much needed funds in a variety of fun and challenging ways.
Jayne said, ‘The team threw themselves wholeheartedly into this endeavour arranging various fundraising initiatives. They completed an eight hour hike from Avebury to Stonehenge, baked numerous cakes over the course of the year and tested their grey matter by running several quiz nights.
On behalf of Splash I cannot stress enough just how much this support has meant to us, not just in financial terms, which in itself makes a huge difference to a small charity like ours, but we were also so encouraged that the staff volunteered on our projects too – experiencing for themselves the Splash effect, thank you so much’
Stephen Uden, Head of Citizenship at Nationwide commented ‘It’s great to see our employees getting actively involved in fundraising and volunteering for such a fantastic local charity. Last year 30% of our employees participated in citizenship activities, and this year we have even more ambitious plans to expand this; in doing so we hope to support even more organisations like Splash and the communities they serve.’
If any local company or business would be interested in nominating Splash as their charity of the year or can offer any other support please call the Splash team on: 01380 724106.
