Swindon business UK SBS (UK Shared Business Services Ltd) will be supporting Sport Relief 2014 and responding to calls from TV viewers.
The volunteers will be helping Sport Relief to raise cash to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people, in the UK and throughout the world, a helping hand to turn their lives around
Last year, UK SBS took donation calls for Comic Relief to the value of over £51,000, taking over 1,500 calls throughout the evening.
On Friday 21 March, Sport Relief will be broadcasting a night of top-notch TV and 100 UK SBS staff will be volunteering to receive donation calls from people across the country.
Volunteers from UK SBS will be manning the phones for Sport Relief, left to right: Jacek Markiewiz, Head of Corporate HR; Kirsty Ritson, Senior HR Business Partner and Alistair Golding, Customer Services.
Wiltshire & Swindon Sports Personality of the Year – Athlete with a Disability – Martin Lane will be formally launching the call centre on Friday. Martin plays for Wales in the international wheelchair tag rugby league and was recognised in the Pride of Swindon awards on 10 March for his work in the community.
The call centre team will also be joining the fun and games themselves by running fundraising activities, such as the Retro Games featuring the Kerplunk Kup and Connect 4 Tournament.
Each year volunteers from UK SBS’s 900-strong team support a number of charities and last year over a quarter of the staff did their bit and notched up more than 1,600 hours of voluntary service between them.
“We are a people business,” said Jonathan Preece, Chief Executive Officer.
“Our rapid growth has been due to the professionalism and skills of our staff, and we are proud that they are eager to give up their personal time to be involved in such a worthy cause.”
UK SBS Ltd is a not-for-profit mutual organisation, providing shared business services to the public sector to ultimately save taxpayers money, improve quality and free up clients to focus on their core business.
As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £195 million.
