A year of fundraising in aid of Swindon based children’s cancer charity CALM at Sainsbury’s Bridgemead concluded at the end of April when South Swindon MP Robert Buckland handed over a cheque for £8,618.
The money was raised from staff events, customer collections, bag packs and donations at the flower wrapping stall.
CALM chairman Richard Crowley said that the parent volunteers involved with the charity wanted to thank all the staff and management at Sainsbury’s. “They’ve done fantastic fundraising efforts during the past 12 months.
"Sue Sainbury and Simon Belcher have been especially helpful in liaising between the store and CALM.
“Our families and committee have felt very welcome whenever we’ve held fundraising events and we know a lot of the staff have given up their own time to ensure the success of the ‘charity of the year’ partnership.
“A big thank you goes to all the other people who have supported events, and also the fire and police teams who brought vehicles along to our final collection, as well as Sgt Andy Whiting who did a sponsored spinning session at the store.
