James Smith and seven colleagues who work at the Swindon distribution centre for Smythson of Bond Street are planning a three day cycle ride from Wellington barracks London to Waterloo in Belgium, to raise money for the Grenadier Guards colonel’s fund.
The 210 mile ride from 24 to 27 September will raise money for the fund set up in 2007 to supplement existing regimental charitable funds and provide support for injured Grenadiers and their families who need assistance with:
– Funeral arrangements and expenses of those killed in action
– Home improvements, wheelchair access
– Holidays for seriously injured and their immediate families.
Nick Sandford who also works at Smythson served in the Grenadier Guards for 13 years and his son is currently in the regiment.
