A team of athletes from the Les Slinn Fitness Centre have chosen to support Swindon Guide Dogs on a four day bike ride to Paris in July.
They will arrive on 21 July to see the first night time finale of the Tour de France, a spectacular to mark the completion of the 100th event.
Fourteen groups in the town responded to the story in the February Swindon Link where Les and the twenty riders invited nominations for their support.
“We were pleased so many good causes came forward,” said Les. “There were some heartfelt requests and we’d like to thank everybody who wrote to us. On this occasion the riders voted for Swindon Guide Dogs.”
Guide dogs chairman Alan Fletcher said he was speechless when Les contacted him. “We’re very grateful to the team for choosing us and look forward to helping them reach their target.”
The riders aim to raise £5,000 so that they can name a puppy. They’re planning a series of promotions where cyclists will be joined by guide dog users and puppy walkers.
