At the last meeting of Swindon Diabetes U.K. group the speaker was Dr Jon Freeman, a Clinical Psychologist, who gave a presentation on “Managing Type 2 Diabetes”.
The basis of the talk was understanding and working with thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the way we manage our Type 2 Diabetes.
It was a very lively presentation with a great deal of audience participation and as a result of publishing our news more new members have now joined.
Dr. Freeman runs these courses, which are free, held in community venues across Swindon and Wiltshire, and they run for 5 weekly sessions. To attend you must be registered at a GP practice in Swindon or Wiltshire. To reserve a place on the course ring 01793 835710 for Swindon or 01380 731335 for Wiltshire.
The next group meeting is on Tuesday 2 October at 7.30pm in the Broadgreen Community Centre and the speakers will be Clara Cunningham, community diabetes specialist nurse, assisted by DESMOND course educator Stephanie Penfold. The subject is “Insulin’s used in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes”
Do come along, new members are always welcome to our meetings. You could find, like me, this most beneficial in giving you a better understanding of the management of diabetes, and it is free.
