The Swindon Half Marathon takes place this Sunday, starting at 11am from Pipers Way near the Nationwide headquarters, with Polish Marathon Star Krzysztof Bartkiewicz from twin city Torun a strong contender.
A group of 6 marathon runners from Swindon twin city Torun in Poland, will take part this year on invitation from TASTE, the Torun and Swindon Twinning Enterprise which works to facilitate communication between organisations and individuals in Swindon and Torun.
Krzysztof Bartkiewicz has excellent running times for a marathon at 2 hours 23 minutes and a half marathon in just one hour 8 minutes (last year the Swindon Marathon was won by David Roper with a time of one hour and 14 minutes). Bartkiewicz has been in excellent form, during the last month alone he has won marathon races in France, Denmark and Ukraine, so he will be one of the favourites. During his stay he will also visit the Steam Museum and the Outlet Village.
