Tweets by the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been chosen as one of the 100 Twitter feeds every nurse should follow.
The list published by OnlineNursePractitionerPrograms.com features 100 Twitter feeds from various nursing professionals, health bodies, nursing education programmes and nursing job sites.
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is number 18 in the list.
It is listed in the Nursing and Health category along with Twitter feeds from the Journal of Clinical Nursing, CNN Health Twitter Feed and the New York Times Health Twitter Feed.
The website put together the list as a way of ensuring those in the nursing field can keep up to date with the rapidly growing and changing field of nursing.
Rachael Lee, Media and Communications Officer, at GWH said: “We are delighted to be included in the list of 100 Twitter feeds every nurse should follow and thank Online Nurse Practitioner Programs for the recognition. We have a range of followers, and these include nurses and student nurses. For them Twitter is a great resource for staying updated about the profession, medical developments, and nursing jobs and opportunities. It is also a great way for them to interact with others in the field and share thoughts and ideas.”
In March the Trust reached over 1,000 followers on Twitter, and also carried out a successful Tweetathon live from their Emergency Department at GWH providing a behind the scenes insight into the work of the department and the patients.
Rachael added: “We try to regularly keep our Twitter feed updated with our latest news and developments, including news about nursing jobs, and national nursing awards. It is exciting time for nursing in the Trust, with our recently launched Nursing Strategy, setting the direction of travel for our nursing workforce over the next few years, and a major investment in recruitment of nurses and leadership training.”
