TOTALLY4WOMEN launches PAGE 50 – showing there is another way to portray women.
Sabine Coe, photographer from Toothill in Swindon, right, writes:
You may recall that I have been doing a photography project called “Women of the World”, taking portraits of women from all around the world, currently living in Swindon and Wiltshire.
I have now photographed over 50 women, from origins as diverse as Belize, Bangladesh, Colombia, Ghana, Japan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sweden, Spain or Uzbekistan, but also from England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland.
I am planning to exhibit my work in Swindon as part of next year International Woman’s Day, but for now, I have teamed up with the website www.totally4women.com.
totally4women is publishing each Woman of the World in a full page photo and accompanying “Vital Statistics”: Christian name, country of origin, job and a main insight about the person. Each woman is shown in monochrome wearing a white top; the focus is always on the face.

t4w’s Founder and Editor, Carolyn Lazarus, says: “There is another way to portray women. PAGE 50 is a daily reminder of the individuality and diversity of women. Every day we will celebrate their wise, enigmatic and engaging faces through the camera lens. You may see this as in direct contrast to the way in which the media so often looks at women, we could not possibly say.”
The motivation behind this project? t4w believes that the next generations of women – daughters, sisters, granddaughters, friends – cannot be what they cannot see. t4w gives every day in the simplest of ways an opportunity to value the whole woman…mind body and soul. You can join t4w for free at totally4women.com and enjoy the project as it unfolds and read more about everyone involved.
t4w supports the No more page3 campaign.
