The Khyber in Victoria Road, the oldest Indian restaurant in Wiltshire, has been recognised by the Bangladesh Caterers’ Association as the best in the region.
At a ceremony attended by 1,200 people at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London TV presenter Tasmin Lucia Khan fronted the event with Nina Wadia from Eastenders making the presentations.
The Khyber has been run by the same family for 50 years. Established in 1962 it was taken on by brothers Sadik and Hasan Ali after their father Afiz died in 1988.
‘Like getting an Oscar’
Sadik said: “It was brilliant to receive the recognition for what we have accomplished here. The catering award is like getting an Oscar from your peers. I’d like to thank all of our loyal customers for their continued support over the years.
“Nina told us to keep up the hard work.”
