DEBUTANT Dan Martin make an instant impact as he scored the winner in Swindon Supermarine’s dramatic 3-2 victory at Mangotsfield this afternoon.
After Marine had let a two-goal lead slip against 10 men, the former Forest Green and Shortwood striker beat his man and fired home to grab the points for the visitors.
Midfielder Chris Taylor had given the visitors the lead as he tapped home the rebound after seeing his initial penalty saved, before Josh Morse’s shot was diverted home by a home defender to double the advantage.
Home striker Lewis Powell grabbed one back for the hosts, before Sam Worrall was beaten by a late free-kick as the hosts looked to have grabbed a point. However, Martin had other ideas.
Harry Etheridge had the first chance of the game as he connected with a Taylor free-kick, but his lob went over the top before Ryan Bath went close for the hosts.
Etheridge went close again before the break, before Mark Flanagan had to clear off the line as Colbourne directed the ball towards goal.
However, 10 minutes after the break, Marine took the lead from the spot after home defender Lambeth was sent off for a foul in a goalmouth scramble which twice saw Marine hit the woodwork. Taylor missed from the spot, but was able to follow things up to knock home the rebound.
The hosts continued to push in search of an equaliser, with Marine looking dangerous on the break, and the visitors soon made it two as Josh Morse’s shot hit a Mangotsfield defender and found the back of the net.
There was time for Powell to grab one back, before a free-kick levelled matters, but there was still time for Martin to pop up with a dramatic winner.
