The JTP Trust is delighted to unveil it’s fresh and creative image for ‘Swindon: the Opera’ and announce the audition date for principal roles.
Designed by Puttyfoot Ltd, the image reflects the spirit of the forthcoming community focussed project, culminating in performances to be held on 7/8 July 2012 at STEAM. Elements of the arts in Swindon are represented by local faces including that of mural artist Ken White and historical features comprising a famous steam engine and Swindon’s tallest building.
Matt Fox, writer of ‘Swindon: The Opera’ said “We really wanted the image to reflect the reasons why we chose to write and produce the opera. The story centres around a fictional Swindon family, ‘the Eveleys’, and their highs and lows over the last sixty years. Family life and the arts are the two key elements of the piece and I believe, represent two fundamental parts of the town as a whole.”
Auditions will be held for the central couple and other principal roles on Sunday 5 February 2012 at St Joseph’s Catholic College from 3-9pm. Specific details of the roles and the requirements for these will be released soon. A variety of roles for different ages, genders, singing styles and acting abilities will be required.
Matt Fox, added, “We’re very excited about the auditions, and are keen to see what the people of Swindon can offer. When auditioning, people can often excel and surprise themselves with their abilities.”
