Young people in Swindon looking to further their career prospects can access a new website which will give them the latest information on training and education.
The Learning Pathway website provides links to occupational opportunities via the National Careers Service website as well as information on apprenticeships courtesy of the National Apprenticeship Service. It also lists all the post-16 courses available in schools and colleges in and around the Swindon area.
Part-time learning, scholarships, work experience opportunities and information on volunteering are all listed on the site as is a page with useful contacts for advice and support.
The website has been created by Swindon Borough Council’s Routes to Employment team in partnership with local learning providers, schools and the National Apprenticeship Service, with the objective of engaging more young people in learning after the age of 16.
It will also be a valuable resource ahead of the changes in legislation which will see young people remain in education and learning from the ages of 16 to 18.
Cllr David Renard, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “It is really important for our country, our town, our communities and especially the young people themselves that we provide them with all the information and advice they need.
“This will enable them to make the right choices for their future development and transition into the world of work.”
