The Swindon Wildcats take on the Telford Tigers at Link Centre in West Swindon on Saturday 10 November for a match which has been specially selected as a fixture where we aim to raise money for our successful Wildcats in the Community programme.
We’ve teamed up with JACK fm and Breakfast Show presenter Ben Atkinson will be among the radio station’s staff joining us to keep everyone entertained during night.
As well as a number of fundraising initiatives that will be going on through the evening he will be donning the goalie kit and trying to defend some shots.
Ben said: "Ice Hockey has always been a passion of mine, I was 13 when I went to my first game so I’m delighted to be able to get involved with the Wildcats. Putting the goalie’s kit on will be a dream come true."
Plus for one night only, the Wildcats will be wearing specially designed limited edition blue coloured jersey for the game.
These shirts won’t be available for general-sale, but these unique items will be auctioned off to the highest bidder – with all proceeds going towards the community programme fund.
Community Development Officer Aaron Nell said: “It’s going to be a great event and all the players are looking forwards to being able to help out with raising funds for the clubs community programme which plays an important role throughout Swindon.
“All of the money that is raised on the night will go towards purchasing new helmets and other hockey equipment that we loan to each participant on our various community activities so we’re hoping that the fans get behind us and bring along friends and family to the game to help raise as much money as we can.
“The shirts will be real collector’s items and should appeal to the fans and will make a great Christmas gift for any Wildcats supporter.”
Details on how you can get hold of a shirt will be made available in the build-up to the game as well as news on what else will be happening on the night. To help raise money, the club will also be donating a percentage of the adult and child ticket sales to the fund – so please bring friends and family members and lets fill the rink!
Face off will be at 5.45pm and everyone is welcome.
