On Wednesday 22 June Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre went to the ‘ball’ and welcomed the stars of this year’s pantomime, Cinderella, into the theatre.
Keith Chegwin will be starring as Buttons, Suzie Chard as the Wicked Stepmother, Adam King as Prince Charming and Neal Wright as the Ugly Sister all paraded in Theatre Square, joined by two new stars of the show, Chelsea and Primrose, two Shetland ponies who will be appear with the cast this December.
Straight from filming with Ricky Gervais and Liam Neison, Keith has been a regular face including presenting The Big Breakfast for two-and-a-half years and then GMTV, which he worked on for seven years, knocking on more than 250 doors from Land’s End to John O’Groats during his famous cash giveaways.
The cast took part in a photocall in the morning with the ponies and Cinderella’s carriage; they were joined by curious members of the public with Keith and the ponies sharing the attention. In the afternoon the stars took part in a series of interviews with members of the press.
Keith Chegwin said: “I love being in pantomime, it really gets the festive season started. I bring all my family with me and they will love it! Swindon is a great place, can’t wait to get started now”.
Theatre Director Derek Alridge: “I am so excited about Cinderella and cannot wait to welcome Keith and the rest of the company back to Swindon to start rehearsals. I know we are going to have a superb production that will captivate audiences throughout the run. It is a privilege to be part of families’ festive celebrations – roll on Christmas!”
