The public will get a chance to look behind the scenes at the Great Western Hospital at the Trust’s Open Day this Saturday, 17 September 2011.
The free event, from 10am-3pm, has something for all the family.
Visitors will be able to sign up for tours to discover for themselves what happens in the Theatres, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Radiology and Plant Room and will have the chance to see the Pharmacy Robot in action!
Fifty fundraisers will be taking part in a 90ft charity abseil off the hospital roof and visitors will be able to watch their progress from a special viewing area.
There will be a whole host of displays and demonstrations both inside and outside the GWH by hospital staff and local organisations. Activities will be available just for kids in the Children’s Zone and there will be entertainment throughout the day from local band the Saga Louts.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for a chance to win some fantastic prizes, including a golf day, a photo session, a Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner and a signed Swindon Town FC shirt. The Swindon Town FC Community Programme will be hosting a target shooting competition to win a signed Swindon Town football.
All money raised on the Open Day will go to the GWH’s Charitable Funds. This money will go towards equipment and facilities not typically funded by the NHS.
There will be free parking on site throughout the day.
