An epic 52-mile trek to be completed within 24 hours is the challenge for a brave team from Wiltshire packaging firm GWP.
Four members of staff will be stepping out of their comfort zone on 22 and 23 June by taking part in the Sense 2013 RidgeWalk.
GWP’s intrepid walkers, who call themselves the GWP Striders, have been training most weekends since January, plus undertaking shorter walks and other training during the week.
“It has really pulled us together as a team,” said Ian Cook, MD of GWP Conductive.
“Finding the time to train, plus how to suit the varying abilities of all team members has been a great challenge. What we didn’t appreciate was just how much training we’d have to undertake, or how many blisters we’d get! But it’s a great chance to raise funds for such a worthwhile charity”.
The team members are Ian Cook, husband and wife Matthew and Jenny Green and James Pedley.
Sense is a national charity that supports and campaigns for adults and children who are deafblind. This is often a combination of hearing and sight impairments which lead to mobility and communication issues. The RidgeWalk event has raised more than £500,000 for Sense since it began four years ago.
