Thamesdown Transport is supporting Greener Journey’s UK-wide ‘sometimes you can’t beat the bus’ Million-Fares campaign, which pledges to give away one million free bus tickets.
The campaign will help people identify where and when taking the bus might prove to be quicker and more efficient than travelling by car. This might be a trip to the pub, or for a night out in town, or maybe just down the road to visit friends. By replacing just one in 25 car journeys with travelling by bus, over two millions tonnes of CO2 could be saved.
To be in with a chance of winning ten single tickets as part of ‘Million-Fares’, people need to visit www.greenerjourneys.com and pledge to replace one regular journey they currently make by car with a bus ride instead. Pledges can be made until 9 October, with tickets able to be redeemed from 1 – 28 November.
Paul Jenkins, managing director of Thamesdown Transport, explained: “Thamesdown Transport is pleased to be part of this campaign and help people make a greener move from travelling by car to making the journey by bus.
“The ‘Million-Fares’ giveaway will help many people see the benefits of travelling by bus and how easy and convenient it can be. The application process is quick and easy and replacing just a small number of journeys could make a large difference to your own carbon footprint.”
