Mums and dads waving off their loved ones to University now have their minds put at rest thanks to a 99p Stores ‘University Survival Kit’, though it does include BOTH a supply of condoms (18 for 99p) and a pregnancy kit.
For £9.90 the ten-item kit also includes basics like a 99p frying pan and a blackhead scrub pack which sells at the single-price point retailer for one-fifth of the retail price.
Also in the kit, which is on sale at Swindon’s branch of 99p Stores at The Brunel Shopping Centre is an alarm clock to make sure students get to lectures on time, as well as 10 toothbrushes and 20 ball-point pens. Each of these products sells for just 99p individually at 99p Stores where all of the 5,000+ products are priced at 99p.
“With A-Level results out, lots of Swindon parents and pupils now have University on their minds and these days with soaring costs every penny and pound counts, “ says 99p Stores boss Hussein Lalani.
“The kit will make preparing for Uni that bit easier and certainly cheaper.”
Mr Lalani went on to defend the kit adding: “We believe in promoting safe sex. The kit like most of our ranges comes as a result of market research and customer feedback.”
The discount retailer has 229 UK branches, with a family of around 2M weekly customers.
