Swindon sensations The Alfonz are enjoying more success having won two rounds to reach the final of the prestigious Bath based Moles Club's Under 18's Battle Of The Bands.
The band have faced strong competition in the earlier rounds and will have to put on a great show to win the judges over, as they will be up against some of the very best young bands in the South West for the final on Sunday 20th July. Taking time out of their busy schedule, they gave us their view on the final, amongst other things.
"We're pleased to be in the final", commented Adam Wiltshire, bassist of The Alfonz. "We've been up against a lot of great bands, so to get this far gives us confidence in what we're doing."
Charlie Rowe, drummer with The Alfonz and general music lover continued, "It's been a great experience for us. We hope this competition has helped us to build our fan base in Bath, so that next time we return we get as warm a welcome as we do now in Swindon."
To help support them on the day, the band have organised for a coach to take fans wishing to attend the final from Swindon, leaving at midday and returning at 7pm. The total cost for the coach and entry to the gig is £9.50 and all ages are welcome, however places are limited so if you would like to reserve a seat email email@example.com with your name and telephone number, or message them via www.myspace.com/thealfonz, or Facebook.
Following the final, The Alfonz will then be heading to the south coast to tour with The Shebeats. While getting a sun tan will be high on the agenda, the bands will be performing in three venues across Cornwall and Devon to gain exposure to a whole new audience.
"It is good to be going out of town as two Swindon bands and gigging, there is something cool about that", remarked Sam Lee, guitarist of The Alfonz.
The tour ends with both bands performing on The Shebeats' Club Fuzz night at The Victoria in Swindon on Friday 25th July.
"We have got a load of new material, and it is our first gig in Swindon for a long time, so it is the first chance people will have to hear some of our new songs", said Sam.
