The planned screening of THE GHOST at Cricklade Town Hall this Friday, 18 March has been CANCELLED because of problems getting a licence for the event.
Film Festival organiser Barbara Hoffbauer said: “ Cricklade Town Hall doesn’t have a permanent licence for showing films, so you have to apply to the Council for a temporary licence each time a film is shown there.
“Unfortunately, because of a misunderstanding, our application arrived late, and Wiltshire Council said we would be breaking the law if we went ahead with the film – so we’ve had no choice but to cancel it.
It’s a disappointing end to what has otherwise been a very successful film festival. But we will make sure that everything is sorted out in good time for the next film in Cricklade, THE KING’S SPEECH, on 9 April.”
Most ticket holders have already been told of the cancellation, but anyone else who bought advance tickets at Baileys in Cricklade can take them back to the shop to get a refund. For any other queries, please phone Barbara on 01793 330639.
