Is your child Talented? Gifted? Does your child love to sing?
Did you know that there is a unique organisation in Swindon tailored especially to nurture your child’s vocal talents?
The JTP Trust offers educational classes and choirs to children of 4 years upwards who have a passion for singing.
Founded in 2004 on an inspiration from its master-singing teacher and director, Janice Thompson, it exists to promote, improve, develop and maintain standards of singing in and around Swindon.
Classes and choirs run on Tuesday evenings at Haydonleigh School in North Swindon, and are a unique blend of solo, ensemble and musical theatre styles. Each child’s voice is individually developed by an experienced teaching team and termly lessons include tuition with Janice herself.
Janice’s own experience includes a two year tenure as Chairman of a national singing teachers’ organisation and presentations in England and Europe on the subject of young developing voices.
Even the youngest singers are offered the opportunity to perform in concerts and children’s musicals, and to succeed in exams. In the oldest classes, the JTP Trust has a proven record of helping teenage singers to gain points for university by achieving high scores in advanced Musical Theatre exams
The JTP Trust Concert Choir of Girls aged 14-18 has achieved national excellence by twice reaching the Finals of Music for Youth.
The JTP Trust associates itself closely with the heritage of Swindon and past large-scale performances have included ‘Brunel: the Little Man in the Tall Hat’ (2006) and ‘Swindon the Opera’, both with music by Betty Roe MBE.
Most recently the JTP Trust has presented a spectactular 10th Anniversary Concert with guest spots from West End Singer Sarah Covey and Arts educational school graduate Jordan Ginger, both of whom are former students of the charity.
The JTP Trust has a few vacancies for enthusiastic singers in all classes, but particularly in its youngest classes and Concert Choir.
Present research is suggesting that singing assists reading skills, so the Trust is also keen to offer scholarships to children who love singing and are recommended by their primary school teachers.
