The snow storm that hit Swindon on 18 January did not prevent milkman Richard Smith and his bride-to-be Carly Taylor tying the knot at Swindon Registry Office at the Civic Offices.
They’ll always remember their happy day as a snow white wedding
Although there was a bit of panic when they knew the white stuff was going to hit the town, an appeal on BBC Radio Wiltshire brought offers of help from a 4 x 4 owner willing to make sure the couple could become hitched.
The white-out prevented many of the guests reaching the ceremony, but Carly and members of her family were rescued from Penhill by the good samaritan whilst groom Richard drove his family from Toothill.
After the service the couple travelled to the reception at The Pig on the Hill on Devize Road, Old Town in Richard’s electric milk float with the groom taking the wheel.
Their first night together was spent not far away at the DeVere Village in West Swindon.
